| Who are
the members of the band and how did you all get together? Shane - Vocals/Guitar The band members met because they all had former bands that rehearsed in the same studio, Fast Lane in Brooklyn, and through various ads in the papers. We met the current bass player, Roxy, in a bar as he was getting thrown out. Where is the band from? New York City. Do you have any CD's available to purchase and where? Uranium 235's debut CD, "Cultural Minority," was released in 1998 in Germany/Japan/U.K. and in 2000 in the USA under Mystic Music. It is available in many music stores, and through all the major online music vendors (including Amazon.com, CDNow.com, etc.) You can go to our website at www.uranium235.com for more info. Who produced your latest release? Our album "Cultural Minority" was produced by Shane. What are your plans for the rest of the year/next year? Recording, touring etc. To complete another record, and go on tour sometime in the end of March. (Please go to www.uranium235.com for the most up-to-date tour info). Who is the band's biggest influence? Technology. In this genre, the thing that separates one band from another is the way you use technology to create new sounds, new ways of playing beats, creating new niches in style. So the more technology you can get your hands on, the more creative your style progresses. What is the most memorable show you've ever played? Opening for Motorhead in Stuttgart, Germany. It was a Motorhead fan base, who don't usually understand bands like us. It was the hardest crowd that we ever had to play in front of. Who are your favorite local bands? Lower East Side Stitches (http://www.lesstitches.com), Bile (http://www.teknowhore.com), Eye Kandy (http://www.eyekandy.net) Who do you have playing in your car stereo now? Don't own a car. (But if I did, Apopgtygma Berzerk). What is the hardest thing to do while being in a band? Keeping the band together. Do you have a favorite band story? Tour fight, fanatic fan etc. We were playing in Murder Beach, (otherwise known as Mytrle Beach), and one of the people in the audience decided to make a comment to Shane wanting to know if he was a guy or a girl. Shane told him he was a guy "who fucked your mom and your dad, that's why you're so stupid." Afterwards, a big fight took place in the parking lot and the band got jumped, leaving the keyboard player with a nose far to the left of his face. Then in a very manly fashion, he asked our drummer to take his hands and put his nose back in the center of his face. But the drummer went too far, and it wound up on the right side of his face. When asked how it looked, he said "It's still crooked." He asked our drummer to try again and see if he could straighten it out this time. The drummer tried again, and now it looked like a big "C". Hehehe. (Hmmm I think maybe it's funnier told in person ....) Additional comments... I hate bananas. And record company people. Or is it the other way around? Record company people are bananas and they hate each other? |
